Where do I go to find professional therapies and educational support?
< 1 min read
Help is available through both medical and educational avenues:
- Under Age 3: Look into your state’s Early Intervention (EI) program, which provides in-home therapies (like speech, occupational, and physical therapy) often at low or no cost.
- Age 3 and Older: Contact your local public school district. Under federal law, they are required to provide a free evaluation and, if eligible, an Individualized Education Program (IEP) tailored to your child’s learning needs.
- Medical Route: Ask your diagnosing physician for referrals to local pediatric therapists who specialize in autism.
